Gun Oil silicone lubricant ~ Review

When I was offered to review a lube from Fascinations, I asked for a recommendation on one that would be good for anal sex. Shanna offered me some Gun Oil, which for the most part appears to be marketed to men with it's camouflage like label and it's promise to "Keep a mans most important piece of equipment well-oiled"

Despite it's name, Gun Oil is a misnomer and does not contain any oils. It is 100% safe to use with condoms and non-silicone sex toys. You can also put a condom over your silicone toys to keep them safe if you wish, but take care not to get it directly on the silicone or you will risk damaging your toy.

Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract

The 4oz Gun Oil that I received comes in a pump top bullet shaped bottle, with the top safety sealed in plastic. The pump itself comes in a locked position, which caused a bit of a nuisance to me because I grabbed the bottle in the heat of the moment and couldn't figure out how to get the lube out! I ended up unscrewing the top and getting it out that way for my first use, and unscrewing the top seemed to have unlocked the pump so luckily I didn't have to do that again! Other than that, having a pump top is extremely handy, especially since this one is quite a bit larger than another pump that I have which makes it very easy to dispense. One other nice thing - the bottle tipped over while I was busy playing, and I was expecting a mess but there was none! Having a leak proof bottle is very nice, especially if you are clumsy like me and just toss it aside on the bed instead of standing it upright on the desk.

Unlike some other silicone lubricants, this one has a consistency much like that of an oil though that doesn't seem to defer it's performance in use. 3-4 drops is enough to spread around an entire toy (or penis) and it leaves a very thin, yet very slippery layer that does not dry up. It is odorless as well as tasteless which are always good qualities to have!

I did ask for a lube that would be good for anal, but I did not have a chance to use this one for it yet. Still, because of how slick it is I think it is safe for me to say that it would be a very good choice for anal. It's thinner consistency seems to be for the better, in that when I compared it alongside a couple other silicone lubricants (on my hand) it seemed to be slipperier since it lacked the velvety feeling that the others had.

Cleaning it off was just as easy as washing my hands with soap and water. With some silicone lubes, I have had to wash my toys multiple times to get it all off. Not the case with Gun Oil. It cleaned off easier than the others, though was still strong enough to form a barrier that doesn't immediately rinse away when used in the shower. Once all cleaned up, there was no trace of greasy or sticky residue left behind - and thanks to the Aloe and Vitamin E it leaves your skin soft to the touch!
