Sinclair Institute Anal Explorers ~ Review

Like I have mentioned before, I have been on the search for the perfect toys to help us out is making anal more of a regular thing. When I saw these ones, I knew we had to give them a try!

The Anal Explorers from Sinclair Institute are silicone, so they are hypoallergenic, non-porous, latex and phthalate free which makes them safe to use, or share if you wanted (after sterilizing, of course!) They are also tasteless and odorless, if that is a concern. The packaging is pure white, with silver writing and a window on the front - it's actually quite nice even though it is plain. The box hinges open and the Explorers are kept in a double moulded plastic, keeping them protected from all sides. The colors are very light instead of the bold colors many silicone toys have, and were particularly appealing to me.

They are a little more pliable then some of my other silicone which makes them quite comfortable to use. The silicone has a soft velvety feel, with no visible seams. The tips are very small and the shaft flares out in the center making them very easy to insert. The smallest one (pink) is about the size of a pinky finger at 2" insertable length and about 1/2" thick, the medium one (green) has about 2.5" insertable length and 3/4" thick, while the largest (blue) is about the thickness of my thumb at about 1" but a bit longer at 3". All three are pretty small, so I think these would be perfect for anyone new to anal penetration. If you want a full feeling, these won't be the toy to expect it from.

Instead of a flared base like most butt plugs, these have a loop at the end. You are supposed to put them on your finger, like a ring. The box includes a warning I feel I should repeat - keep your finger in the grip at all times during use. These are not meant to be left inserted on their own. If you tried to use these without your finger secured in the grip, they will very likely be sucked in since the base is only slightly bigger than the probe! That said, I found the loops to be very tight on my fingers, and my husband could barely fit his pinky into them. They are supposed to stretch to fit and I think they may have been made this way on purpose so there is no risk of it accidentally slipping off, even if your fingers are covered in lube....but it still could have been a bit bigger. They are only slightly uncomfortable on my fingers, but my husbands hands are obviously bigger.

I actually found that the bullet from the MiVibe (Which is a Power Bullet) fit nicely into the finger grips (with lube), and created enough of a T-like base that I was able to use these without my fingers - though a longer bullet might be safer since the Power Bullet is only about 2" long. The vibrations travelled through the silicone extremely well and felt really nice! They vibrated quite a bit more than holding a bullet to a full size dildo, possibly due to their smaller size. I wish they would come out with a matching set(s) in bigger sizes since I love the look and feel of these. Once again, these were great to start out with, but if you are trying to work up to inserting a full sized sex toy or penis you may need something else to continue working with since the largest explorer is significantly smaller than a penis.

They can easily be cleaned in warm water with soap or sex toy cleaner and you can sterilize them by boiling for 3 minutes, wiping down with a 10% bleach solution, or by putting them in the top rack of your dishwasher with no soap. If you are wanting to sterilize in the dishwasher I would suggest having them in a secured basket of some sort, since they are small enough that they might fall through the rack. They should be sterilized before switching between partners, possibly even after every use if you want to be sure to keep them free from bacteria.

They are very reasonably priced around $20 and I would definitely recommend them to anyone new to anal, or looking for something small to play with during oral or intercourse.

I received this product for review from Adult Sex Toys: Over 8000 Sex Toys and Adult Toys to choose from. The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way. Please do your own research before purchasing products. Your opinions and results may differ.

They really look like a great way to 'condition' yourself for full enjoyment of Anal. Sounds great for beginners if it weren't for the finger loop FAIL, However your bullet idea is quite ingenious.
    Insightful & helpful review!

I finished up my MiVibe review - I had intended to publish them both at the same time which is why I mentioned it. Didn't quite work out that way but it's up now and I added the link :)
